This PowerPoint begins asking students to describe the banquet hall / reception at their wedding. The students are confused where class is going and the intrigue builds a bit. Teacher then goes on to something completely new and begins describing levels of biological organization with a neat activity that has students place a line next to some terms. the levels of biological organization are then described one at a time with images and references to the organization of the banquet hall. The Room is the biosphere, sections the biomes, tables the ecosystem, plates, the community, group of meatballs the population, and the meatball the individual. A drawing accompanies to help organize the whole note process. Biomes are discussed in greater detail with images. The biosphere is then addressed and it's components described in a neat diagram (Ecosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere). An activity has students create their own pyramid from individual to biosphere with images. Directions with visuals make this activity a snap. Two video links slides are also provided.
