Part 1 is all about Levels of Biological Organization and Includes 5 lessons of about 50 minutes, and 11 page work bundle that has students fill-in critical notes, conduct exciting hands-on activities, answer questions, graph activities, complete quizzes, includes games, and much more. The work bundle chronologically follows the detailed slideshow for an amazing learning experience. Everything you need for an amazing learning experience is provided. Part has students learn levels of biological organization, structure function, cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. An built-in quiz concludes this section.
Part 2 Explores the Skeletal system and is 7 lessons of 50 minutes with a 13 page Work Bundle. Students learn about the skeletal system, brain injury, types of bones, common bones in the human body, ligaments, tendons, joints, and common injuries. Students build a working hinge joint and biomechanical hand as they move through the work bundle. A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 3 is about the Muscular System and includes 5 lessons and a 10 page Work Bundle. Students learn how a muscle works, types of muscles, common muscles in the human body, and conduct a chicken leg dissection. A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 4 Explores health, wellness, and Nutrition. This Part has 11 lessons of 50 minutes and 24 page work bundle. Students learn about biologically important elements, the molecules of life, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, steroids, obesity, eating healthy, fast food, the dangers of fast food, factory farming, and eating disorders. A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 5 has the students learn the Digestive System. This Part has 6 lessons and a 15 page work bundle. Students learn about chewing, mechanical and chemical digestion, the organs of the digestive system, focus on the intestines, and conduct a digestion simulation where each student has a role in the digestive systems as some "food" is passed along in bags and "digested". A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 6 Explores the Circulatory and Lymphatics Systems. This part has 8 lessons and has a 15 page interactive work bundle. Students learn about the circulatory system, veins, arteries, capillaries, the heart, parts of a heart, blood, types of blood cells, and blood types. Students make blood soup when learning about blood types and turn the classroom into a heart in a fun simulation. A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 7 Focuses on the Respiratory System and Anti-Smoking / Tobacco / Anti-Vaping. This Part has 14 lessons of 50 minutes and 18 page work bundle that chronologically follows the learning experience. Students learn about the organs of respiratory system, lungs, perform a neat lab of blowing balloons to explore tidal volume, and vital capacity. This part then moves into cancer, the dangers of smoking and vaping and creates an anti-smoking campaign where students create projects to get kids to not smoke. This section also explores anti-smoking advertising as a way to learn what works and what doesn't work to get this important message across. A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 8 Explores the Excretory and Integumentary System. This Part has 4 lessons and an 8 page Work Bundle. A short quiz at the end helps to assess understanding.
Part 9 is all about the Nervous System and includes 12 lessons of 50 minutes and 20 page work bundle. This part begins discussing types of neurons, then moves to learning about the brain. Student then learn about the sense organs and study the eye, nose, ear and touch. Exciting sense activities keep the learning fun. A section also explores observation and is one of my favorites. A full 25 question review game / assessment concludes this Part.
Part 10 Focuses on the Endocrine and Reproductive System. This part is 10 lessons of 50 minutes and has a 19 page work bundle. This section has students learn about he endocrine system, hormones, and focuses on puberty. The Reproductive System has the students learn about the male and female reproductive system, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and child birth. This part has a sugar baby project where students dress up and care for a bag of sugar during the lessons over the course of a week. Always a student highlight. Part 11 is about the Human Immune System and includes 4 lessons of 50 minutes and a 9 page work bundle. I also offer an entire unit on infectious diseases and will often run this portion in that unit. A short quiz at the end of this part assess understanding.
