DNA and Genetics Unit Part 4: Meiosis

This unit includes 4 Lessons (50 minutes each) and 12 pages of printable work bundles.  The Work Bundles have students fill-in critical notes, conduct exciting hands-on activities, answer questions, interpret graphs, includes games, built-in quizzes, and much more. The work bundles chronologically follow the detailed and interactive set of slideshows. A 20 question quiz game concludes each part for a great review and additional assessment. Answer Keys, video links, crosswords, built-in quizzes, and much more are provided. Everything you need to run a fantastic learning experience is provided. Everything arrives in editable format if you want add in your own slides and activities, and the slideshows and work bundles can easily be converted into Google Slides / docs for friendly Google Classroom learning.

Part 3 begins describing the cells that undergo meiosis vs. mitosis, shows detailed pictures of the sperm and the egg, has a built in see who was paying attention questions with which cells undergo meiosis vs. mitosis, and then breaks down meiosis with step by step visuals, paying particular attention to crossing over and then reduction division, A step by step drawing of sexual reproduction unfolds that leads the students to believe that it will be very interesting until it jumps into the cellular level at just the right time. An activity is also built-into the slideshow that has the teacher minimize out of the slideshow. Students move pictures around (teacher controls movement from computer but students are upfront directing) to recreate meiosis. An activity with beads is described and an animation that helps the students recreate meiosis at their tables is provided. This is a neat PowerPoint that breaks down a difficult process into manageable steps. Video Links, review opportunities, embedded checks, and much more are spread throughout. A 20 question Review Game concludes for a fantastic review and assessment. An answer version is provided so students can self-assess. Everything you need to run fantastic unit of study is provided.
